Triumphant Visit and Walk Home
1st Market Bosworth Scout Group Saturday 7th May activity was to visit the Triumph Factory in Hinckley. The team at the Triumph Factory were superb, greeting us when we arrived, ensuring we all had safety vests and then the 2 ½ kilometre tour of the factory began. Remember that number 2.5K
It was amazing seeing how the motorbikes are built and tested and at the factory and the famous people who have ridden them. The team at Triumph were even kind enough to add a guided visit around the museum to the normal tour for our young people. It was lucky that we had such seasoned guides as I heard that our younger Scouts put them through their paces with some tough questions.
We had 43 young people with ages ranging from 6 years old to 14. There was 60 of us in total, thank you parent helpers!!
A big thanks to our guides Pete (second from left), Ian (middle yellow vest) and Dan (second from right).
Our day didn’t stop there as after a short lunch break we then embarked on a Sponsored Walk from the Triumph Factory back towards Market Bosworth.
Our Beaver Scouts were challenged with a 4K walk to Spinney Bank Farm Shop where Kevin and Elaine had kindly offered their field for us to set up a water station and we all also had a sneaky ice cream from their shop. 15 Beaver Scouts took part and completed the walk.
Our Cub Scouts were challenged with, a 8K walk via a sneaky ice-cream at Spinney Bank Farm Shop to Sutton Wharf. Sutton Wharf also kindly allowed us to set up a water station and we supplied a reward of a biscuit or two for completing the walk. 23 Cub Scouts took part and completed the walk.
Our Scouts were challenged with a 14k walk via a sneaky ice-cream and cheeky biscuit they made it all the way back to Market Bosworth! The Scouts photo they shared of the walk was of a grass snake crossing the canal. A big thank you to all the volunteers who took part with special thanks to our fabulous water station crew.
So why remember 2.5K, well it was a sponsored walk towards our ramp and interior refurbishment at the scout hut, so anyone sponsoring per kilometre could be in trouble! 😊

What an amazing achievement our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have managed to raise £553.55 from the sponsored walk on Ashby Canal.
A special mention to our top fundraiser, Lewis who raised £101.25!
