There is a new Defib in town!

Date: 21st Jul 2023 Author: Suzanne Taylor-Turnbull

Located on Southfield Way, Market Bosworth outside the Scout Hut. Defibrillators are used to treat someone in cardiac arrest. A cardiac arrest is when someone’s heart has stopped beating normally and they are unresponsive and not breathing. A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone. Survival rates fall by 10% every minute without defibrillation, which is why it is Important to have a defibrillator as close to hand as possible. The Community map shows all the locations in Market Bosworth, these are all available to the general public 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

For the launch the Scout group was joined by two past Presidents , Nigel Bjorck and John Hayes and one future President Claire Ashdown from Market Bosworth Rotary. Getting a Defib was a real community group effort with Market Bosworth Rotary providing funding along with a grant they got to purchase the defib. The Scout Group funded upgrading to our electrics to service the defib and the materials for the Defib to be sited and J Harding Construction provided the labour without charge.

We all hope that this Defib will provide local residents for many years to come “peace of mind” and also provide a continuous learning experience for our young people at Scouts.
