Space Centre Jubilee Camping
1st Market Bosworth Scout Group Friday 10th June activity was to visit the Space centre for an overnight sleep and then Saturday 11th June to join the Willesley Jubilee District Scout Camp.
The Space Centre event had two schools and another scout group attending, there was over two hundred young people sleeping overnight and we were the biggest group with sixty-three young people. Robert’s travel picked us up from Market Square in Market Bosworth for a very loud sing along by the excited young people. The Space Centre crew were superb, we had an action pack itinerary from 6pm through to 11pm! It included a quiz in the planetarium, we had access to the exhibits in the galleries, a talk about what it is like to be in space, a game of Gravitrax and to finish off a tour of the night sky. Our young people aged from 6 to 14 years old were extremely impressed that they got to sleep in the exhibits area. It did not stop there; in the morning we had another talk and then back on the bus for our next adventure!
Willesley Jubilee District Scout Camp had four hundred and fifty young people attending from across the scout groups in the district. Market Bosworth had eight more young people join us on Saturday morning and forty-three young people attend the camp with the rest going back by bus to Bosworth, answers on a postcard for the logistical nightmare in that! We managed it and what fun to be had on Saturday with bee bombs, mountain boarding, Zorb football, Abseiling / Climbing, Bouldering, pot holing, archery, shooting and more! Sunday finished with a sports day and Jubilee lunch.
A big thank you to all our volunteers we had over twenty-seven different people ranging from a couple of hours to an extended weekend from Thursday through to Sunday helping us. Having so many people from our community help makes me immensely proud and with what was quite a complex event so much easier. Thank You.
