Cub Cafe Raised £154.51!
Friday 8th April Cub Section meeting was taken over by the Friday and Monday Cub Scouts to create a Cub Cafe. We had 25 Cub Scouts attend serving hot and cold drinks, selling food, books and playing games. At the start of the meeting we were joined by Councillor Martin Cartwright who came to see the Exterior project and he gave us some insight into Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Parish & Community Fund and The Dixie Educational Foundation.
Whether or not they could attend the café, all 39 of our Cubs Scouts provided ideas as to what work we should do to the interior of the Scout Hut and access. They have all been involved as to how we can fundraise towards this project. I am pleased to say that the Cafe raised £154.51 towards the Scout Hut ramp and interior work. For a cafe that was open for 45 minutes that is £3.43 every minute! The big round of applause they got at the end of the night from the customers who attended was very well deserved.
Whilst we kept the focus in the young people on the night I do want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents / carers / grandparents for supporting the Cub Scouts in this activity. We could not have done this without your amazing help (thank you) to help the cub scouts make; lemonade, biscuits, cakes and chocolate eggs. Thank you for those who were adult helpers, we definitely needed you. Thank you for coming and spending your money and contributing towards the success of the fun of the Cub Cafe. Thank you to the Morgan family who have sold some cakes in Carlton and donated the money to the Cub Cafe.
I am mindful that it is the first time we have run such an youth led event of a cub cafe. If you have any feedback whether positive or not, please do not hesitate to contact me.
