“A Grand Reopening: Celebrating the Scout Hut and Honouring Community Support & AGM June 2023”

The Scout Group had been eagerly anticipating the reopening of their beloved hut. With great joy and gratitude, the community gathered as Sue Tebbatt, a respected member of the community, cut the ribbon, symbolizing a fresh start for the Scouts as well as recognising the past dedication from her late husband Phil and other volunteers. This article pays tribute to Sue and her heartfelt words, as well as highlights the remarkable individuals and organizations who contributed to the hut’s renovation and the surprises that unfolded during the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Under the guidance of Nicola Morgan as Chair and Simon Jeffers as Group Scout Leader, the Annual General Meeting celebrated the achievements of dedicated members within the Scout Group. Duncan the District Commission surprised everyone with a series of awards, including nights away permit for Jon, recognizing his dedication to ensuring safe and memorable camping experiences. Long service awards were presented to Andy and Alison Stafford and Nicola Morgan, acknowledging their remarkable commitment to Scouting. Additionally, Ian Chamberlain received the prestigious wood beads for completing his training, a testament to his commitment to personal growth and development.
The renovation of the Scout hut would not have been possible without the generous support of numerous individuals, organizations, and community leaders. A long list of acknowledgments was made, expressing heartfelt gratitude to each contributor. The trustees, including the Dixie Educational Foundation and Martin Cartwright from PCIF – Hinckley and Bosworth, played a pivotal role in ensuring the project’s success. Other notable supporters included Jez Harding from J Harding Construction, Lee Ward from Hayward’s Architects, and various local foundations, trusts, and businesses. The AGM report provides a comprehensive list of those who were instrumental in making the renovation a reality.
The reopening of the Scout hut marked a significant milestone for the Scout Group and the entire community. Sue Tebbatt’s, her family and friends presence and Sue’s heartfelt story served as a poignant reminder of the profound impact Scouting has on individuals’ lives. The AGM brought recognition to deserving members and showcased their outstanding achievements. Additionally, the extensive list of thank you’s expressed deep gratitude to the dedicated supporters and community contributors who made the renovation possible.
